AM I ROBBING GOD?
|
Everything that we have, does not belong to us.God gave them- whether we believe in God or not.Even our life is not our own.But God ask for 10% that we earn and the 90% is ours.Selfishly, we take 100% and therefore is never contented. We keep on chasing after the elusive riches but will never get it.We take the 90% and also the 10% that belongs to God.So we rob God.Therefore we are under a curse.
I thought that tithes is my offerings. But the verse above says tithes and offerings- therefore two different things.Tithes is already God's but we give what is God's to God saying that it is our offering.How can that be?
From where is the offering?It is from the 90%.
Well we say I don't have much.But the verse did not say how much.Just 10%. For instance, if we earn $100.00, what we own in $90.00. God says the $10.00 is His. If we earn $1.00, then 90 cents is ours and 10 cents is God's.
I don't have money?Tithes means what you get, be it monetory income, be it what you get from your garden, be it from the gifts.We harvested 100 baskets of padi, 10 baskets belong to God. 100 fish, 10 fish is His.
GIVE WHAT IS CEASER'S AND TO GOD WHAT BELONGS TO GOD."
This is what Jesus said about paying taxes.Many of us are very faithful in paying taxes to the government-which is good, but how many of us are willing to pay what belongs to God?
Paying to God what belongs to Him is an eternal investment.What we give to God will pile up as treasures in heaven.That's what Jesus said.What we give to God is never lost.Every cent of it will be repaid.That is why giving to God some of what we have is saving for eternity.
THE PRINCIPLE OF RECIEVING IS GIVING FIRST
Jesus says, "Give and you will receive." This is the principle of receiving. We will only receive, if we give first. When God asks us to give back to Him the 10th of what we receive, He wants to bless us for our giving and faithfulness.
SOME TESTIMONIES
Somebody I know spent almost RM10,000 for a church building program. A week later, he received a call from her sister in-law to give his bank account. He asked why. She told her, she must put RM10,000 into his account because since before, they had not help him.He at first refused to give his account but after much persuasion, he obliged. He received his money back.
My brother started as a supermarket salesman. Eventually he became a buyer for Yohan, then a manager for a private-owned supermarket, then a manager of Ngu Kee Supermarket, then Giants hired him as manager and after a few months, he was promoted to general manager of Giants supermarket! His pay is 6 digits. His secret? He gives his 10 % faithfully.
Beginning of last month, i spent about RM4,000 of my own saving to buldoze a big piece of land for a church. A week later, I received RM5000 for the sale of a piece of land i owned many years ago which cost me RM1500
THE SACRED PORTION
The Sacred Portion, as mentioned in Deuteronomy is the 10% of what we earn which is to be given to God. To be precise, for the levites, the fatherless, the widows and the aliens. The SP is sacred because this belongs to God and not us. It must be removed from our house. It is for God but God put it aside for those people. Giving the SP invites financial blessings upon our lives.
